Porter Cable - 1/2 In. 1/4 In. Shank Pattern Router Bit W/top-mounted Bearing
Use this bit for routing with patterns. The bearing guides the bit along the edge of a pattern or template while the cutting edge routs the workpiece. Also used for lettering signs, plunge cutting (beginning a cut in the interior of the workpiece and trimming edges flush. Use in handheld and table-mounted routers. Tips For Using This Bit: Start by rough-cutting the workpiece about 1/16 In. larger than the pattern. Use a pattern with smooth edges. Any imperfections will be transferred to the workpiece. Fasten the pattern to the workpiece securely. Make sure the bearing on the bit is tight. When setting the depth of cut, allow for the thickness of the pattern. Never bottom out the router bit in the collet. Leave about 1/8 In. clearance to allow the collet to tighten properly.
