This bit is used for routing 14 degree blind, through, sliding and variable space dovetail joints. Project uses include drawers, boxes, shelves and furniture. To make straight-line cuts, use with an edge guide (on a handheld router) or fence (on a table-mounted router). Tips For Using This Bit: To minimize tearout and chipping when making deep dovetail cuts or routing in dense hardwood, start by making one or two passes with a straight bit. Use a straight bit with a diameter approximately three-quarters less than the diameter of the dovetail bit. You can also use this bit like a chamfer bit, to create angled cuts on edges. Never bottom out the router bit in the collet. Leave about 1/8 In. clearance to allow the collet to tighten properly.
